75th Anniversary of Porsche Sports Cars: Porsche Design launches Limited Anniversary Edition Chronograph 1 – Porsche 75th Anniversary Edition
Exactly 75 years ago, the first Porsche sports car was registered in 1948. Ferry Porsche wanted a lightweight, efficient sports car. Since such a thing didn't exist according to his idea, he simply built one himself. Thus, the Porsche 356 “No. 1” Roadster was launched on June 8, 1948. Soon after, the first Porsche 911 was launched. Porsche Design commemorates this anniversary with the Chronograph 1 – 75 Years Porsche Edition, a limited edition of 475 pieces. The original Chronograph 1 from 1972 was not only Porsche Design's first watch, it was also the first all-black watch. Like the Porsche 911, it was designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche and, like the sports car, embodies the perfect balance between design and engineering. The case of the new Chronograph 1 – 75 Years of Porsche Design is not the stainless steel case of the 1972 original, but is made of lightweight, durable and hypoallergenic titanium. The winding rotor in the shape of a 911 fox rim with the colorful Porsche crest can be seen through the bead-blasted sapphire crystal case back. The matte black dial is inspired by the dashboard of the Porsche 911 cockpit. White hour markers with hour markers and a modern Porsche Design logo, including letters, contrast with the black dial. In addition, the red color of the chronograph function second hand is particularly eye-catching. There is a day/date display at 3 o'clock, and the bezel is decorated with a tachymeter scale. The sapphire crystal mirror is hard-coated and has seven layers of anti-reflection on both sides.

The new Chronograph 1 – 75 Years Porsche Edition is equipped with WERK 01.140 automatic movement and is equipped with Day-Date function. The movement was developed at the brand's factory in Solothurn but uses a platform from supplier Concepto. The movement offers a power reserve of 48 hours. This chronograph features a cam switch with an oscillating pinion clutch. Additionally, quick switching of the date display adds convenience. The new Chronograph 1 – 75 Years Porsche Edition is equipped with a specially developed fabric leather strap with light blue decorative stitching and a central red stripe, the color of Porsche's 75th anniversary logo. The chronograph is available with an optional black leather strap with matching black stitching. Both straps can be quickly and independently interchanged using the quick-change system.
